It's the Little Things
There are an infinite number of ways we can do little things that make a big difference every single day...
It’s at around this time of the year that we all start to get really reflective. We think about moments of fun and joy, we think about the things we wish we would have said or done differently and we start to think about our plans for the year ahead. Often times we only think about the really big things, but I’d like to suggest we take a moment to think about how we’re going to be very intentional even with the little things.
I remember all through my childhood my parents had a magnet on the fridge. It was one of those ones with a scripture quote and a quirky picture. At times I thought it was weird and funny and would joke about this magnet that they had stuck on the fridge holding up artworks or bills or notes. The brilliant thing about this small, seemingly insignificant magnet is that it has had such an immense impact in my life. I can quote the scripture word for word and it’s almost like it’s been imprinted on my life.
It’s probably not a fridge magnet for you, but the idea remains the same. There are so many ways that we can purposefully do small things that have a life long impact and create lasting memories. It’s a kind word or a gift. It’s a habit you form and the way that you live. It’s choosing to pray with your kids every night or send a thoughtful text to someone every morning. I could go on, but all I’m trying to say is that there are an infinite number of ways we can do little things that make a big difference every single day.
And... if you’re wondering, mum and dad still have that magnet and it still holds up artworks. Now they’re artworks drawn by my son, and he’ll grow up seeing that same magnet with the same reminder.
